pavilion mucha

Alfons Mucha has been working for more than decade on serie of large scale paintings called Slavic Epopee. This extensive work is related to Slavic identity, remembering its origins, either mythical and historical. World esteemed artist has donated the whole serie to Prague with a condition that it would realize a pavilion for it. Connecting two key locations in the heart of Prague, the building spans accross ubanistically problematic area where large park was disrupted by a high traffic road. This project restores the park as a scene in front of he pavilion. The volume of the pavilion itself separates the park from the road and creates an abtract timeline that visitors or pedestrians. They can walk by and observe the paintings from inside of the pavilion, or through small windows along the path in the park.
